  • Great Outcomes for Unique Learners

Monday morning live with Natasa Denman featuring one of her long-time published authors, Jenny Tebbutt.

Living in England at 5 years old, Jenny made a bold statement "I am going to be a teacher and marry a farmer.”  At the age of 9, her family came to New Zealand. It was here she found her farmer and become a teacher.

Jenny said she took till she was 40 to become an A student, realising much later in life that her own challenges with education and growing up came as a result of having undiagnosed ADHD of the inattentive type.   Upon discovering that other family members have both dyslexia and ADHD she became passionate about this field of education. She recognized quickly that many neurodiverse students such as those with dyslexia, ADHD, and students on the autism spectrum don’t thrive in education and often their outcomes are well below potential.

Jenny says statistically 22% of students are underserved by our current educations system and its time for change!  Jenny has a post graduate qualification in literacy, a specialist teaching qualification and, has amassed 25 years’ experience specialising in this field. She currently works as an international consultant supporting schools, educators and families throughout New Zealand and Australia.

    3 key takeaways:

    1. Understanding Learner Types and the Waves in education

    2. Why some kids fail and why they shouldn’t

    3. How can we meet the needs of students who learn differently

  • Blue Sky after the Storm

Monday morning live with Natasa Denman featuring one of her amazing authors, Melissa Shand.

Melissa Shand is a registered nurse with over thirty years of nursing experience. However, she left nursing at the beginning of the Australian COVID pandemic in March 2020 unaware she was suffering from her own anxiety, depression and PTSD.

Months before the pandemic, Melissa had signs of low energy and thought she was just being lazy. Drinking more wine and smoking to feel relaxed, but nothing was bringing her joy. Not even running, which was her favourite hobby by far. With no job, nothing driving her and feeling burnout and frustrated, she chose to write her own story, to let her past go. Publishing her book was not part of her immediate plan, just a sign from the universe, saying. Do it, and she did.

    3 Key takeaways:

    1. Ask for help if you are floundering on your own or feeling scared or lonely to reduce fear and progress forward, not back.

    2. Listen to your body and ask it what it is telling you. Example: do you need to face something head-on? Do you have pain? Why? Do you need to change something in your life?

    3. Grab a supportive hand or follow someone else’s light who is willing to encourage your progress to reach a new path or journey that is safer platform for you.

  • Family Superpowers in a Lunchbox

Monday morning live with Natasa Denman featuring a Nutrition Health Coach, Kerry Coleman, one of her amazing authors.

Kerry Coleman has a broad lived experience including but not limited to:

    • Working in family Greengrocery and Health Food Shop

    • Home-birth mum

    • Home-school mum

    • Birthing support person

    • Cruising Yachtie mum

    • Lifeline phone counsellor

    • Merchandiser

    • Mature-age student

    • Integrative Nutrition Health Coach

    • Bachelor of Learning Management graduate

    • Early Years school teacher

    • Education Officer in a Child and Family Centre

    • Playgroup facilitator

Kerry has spent much of the past 35 years raising her own children and supporting families of young children in their years.

Excited to enter the world of teaching after graduating at 52, Kerry found that much of her time was spent managing her students’ behaviours. She studied integrative nutrition health coaching and what she learned helped with her own health but along the way she made the connection between what she was seeing in school lunchboxes and the peaks and slumps in energy and moodiness of the kids in her classes.

Over a decade of teaching and working with young families Kerry also discovered that many parents may not fully understand their role as first educators of their children and is passionate about encouraging parents of young children in that role.

Walking away from teaching at the end of 2019, Kerry has reinvented herself as an author with her first book, The Superpower Lunchbox, which arms parents with loads of great tips that help them support their children’s development as learners and to thrive at school. There is a simple 5 step guide to creating a satisfying and nourishing lunchbox that will keep kids going at school and not take too long to prepare.

    Key Take-Aways:

    1. Keep it Super Simple - feed kids real food from nature most of the time, the five steps are nothing magical - just a simple way to make sure kids are fed real food.

    2. We need to get schools on board as well - we can't keep doing things the way we've always done them. We need everyone working together to make a real difference.

    3. Knowledge is power. People said, "You'll be preaching to the converted" but I believe when people know there is a better way they will want to do that for their kids. Parents are the key people in making these changes.

  • Take Charge of Your Health and Transform Your Life

Monday morning live with Natasa Denman featuring one of her amazing authors, Heidi Jennings.

Heidi is a holistic health coach, plant-based nutrition specialist, and author who empowers her clients to take control of their health and live a life they truly love.  Her ultimate mission is to inspire and educate those who are feeling defeated by their health, by showing them how the body can transition from surviving to thriving, given the right tools and support.

Here are the key takeaways from this interview:

    • Mainstream medicine will not fix your health issues - You must treat the root cause of symptoms with a holistic approach.

    • Steer clear of fads and trends – these are designed to make money, not improve your health.

    • There’s no point focusing on only one or two areas of health (such as nutrition and exercise) - You must address five key areas for optimal health.

  • One Mum’s Journey with Twins on the Autism Spectrum

Monday morning live with Natasa Denman featuring one of her incredible mum-authors, Joanne Copeland.

Joanne was an Executive Assistant, an Auditor, then a stay-home Mum, who worked part-time, when she could, as an integration aide or in administration roles. She is a mother of 4, with girl/boy twins, who were diagnosed with autism at 2 years of age.

Joanne has written her book to share knowledge, hope and inspiration with her readers.  Her story is raw, personal and hides no emotion, with the highs and lows, faced when lives are turned upside down. Always being there for her children was the first priority.

Joanne had to give so much more of herself to find ways to support twins Zalie and Flynn to be the best they could be. Not forgetting she was also a mother to Bryce and Anaye. Her book guides readers to be positive and strong to realise anything is possible when you find the right path.

    3 Key takeaways:

  • Unlock your Creativity to Build the Life of Your Dreams - #LivewithNat & Sharon Westin

Monday morning live with Natasa Denman featuring one of her amazing authors, Sharon Westin.

Sharon is a graphic designer, art teacher, retreat owner, and author of Unmasking the Past. She is a business owner who lives and works in Melbourne, Australia.

Sharon works out of her home studio and has successfully run Sharon Westin Graphic Design since 2011, Art Classes Australia since 2019, and Artfulness Retreats since 2020. She’s a life-long creative who hustles to get sh*t done to build the life she desires.

While doing her own inner work, Sharon found a passion for helping others get back to their creative and authentic self.

Sharon is currently writing her second book, which explains how you can unpack your own past, in an easy-to-understand format.

    Sharon's KEY TAKEAWAYS:

    CREATE

You don’t have to be an artist to create. The process of creating, whether it be drawing, painting, or simply doodling, can put you in a state of flow (similar to meditation), which can aid in productivity and calmness.

    MEDITATE

Like creativity, you don’t need to be a guru to meditate, and you don’t need to meditate in the traditional sense. Find something that allows you to free your mind from thought, such as exercise, gardening, or painting.

    BREATHE

Breath is our first medicine. If you are anxious or stressed, slowly count to 10 and breathe deeply into your abdomen, not your chest. Breathing like this will help relieve your immediate stress. Deep breathing calms the body’s nervous system by sending extra oxygen to the brain, easing physical symptoms.
