It’s a major breaking news. In the wake of Trump’s unjust, unreasonable, unfair tariffs on India, The Government of India has paused all plans to purchase weapons, fighter aircraft, defense equipment from the United States of America. This news was broken by news agency Reuters but National Defence sources denied any such plans. Reuters in its story said that US President first unilaterally announced 25% tariffs, which he again raised to 50% on August 6th with threats of putting secondary sanctions on India if it buys oil from Russia. Reuters siting sources said, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh was supposed to visit Washington in coming weeks but that visit is now been halted due to Trump’s unjust tariff announcements. National Defence sources when contacted say, the news reports on India pausing the talks related to defence purchases with the US are false and fabricated. It is clarified that the various cases of procurement are being progressed as per the extant procedures.
