The Morley Consort, a 4-piece historical music group, have recorded an arrangement of sheet music which is etched on a 17th Century Marquetry Commode from Ham House. The commode is decorated with this sheet music as well as instruments, books, and flowers.
This recording of the music from the left leaf of the commode is an opportunity for the listener to be transported back to the 17th century. It poses many questions about who the composer was, their relation to the maker and how/where they may have intended the music to be listened to.
