Massachusetts State Representative Jim Lyons is planning to set up a Nativity scene inside the State House next week, similar to the one he helped put up last year. Once again, some have complained that the Nativity scene is inappropriate for a government building due to its religious message. But Representative Lyons says that he isn’t doing it as a political statement, but rather as a way to spread a message of “love, joy and hope”. Rep. Lyons joins Dan in the NightSide studio to discuss the display and why he feels it’s important. Do you think a temporary Nativity scene should be allowed in the State House? Or does it cross the line separating church and state?
