An exploration of nature, art, and California’s native flowers with artist, landscape architect, community historian, and storyteller Barnali Ghosh. Over the past year, Ghosh has been creating a series of self-portraits dressed as various California native flowers. The recreations feature sarees and the poses she holds in each of these images are based on an Indian classical dance form, Odissi. Ghosh’s conversation with Terra Verde host and Earth Island Journal editor Maureen Nandini Mitra, focuses on how our individual cultures and histories inform the ways in which we understand and interact with nature.
