15 years ago, this land in rural southern Portugal was just grassland. Today, it has evolved into Aterra Eco Boutique - a nurturing place, where guests are invited to slow down, reconnect and come back down to Earth.
In this Nature-immersive visual episode of Natured Minds, we are welcomed by founders Francisco & Claudia and walk with them across their land, accompanied by Julio the dog, curious peacocks, horses and frogs, who wander in and out of the frame.
Rather than sitting in a studio, the conversation unfolds while moving through trees, gardens, and shared spaces, guided by birdsong, wind, and footsteps. Shaped by principles of permaculture - from composting and growing food to building and hosting, Aterra reflects a way of living that works with nature instead of against it.
Along the way, we explore:
– How this landscape transformed over time
– What it means to truly land on the Earth (double meaning of Aterra in portuguese)
– What the land can teach that no book ever could
– How hospitality becomes an act of nurturing
– The subtle shifts that happen when guests unplug
Here, visitors are gently invited to:
– Take off their shoes
– Turn off their phones
– Step away from technology and materialism
With documentary-style visuals, ambient sound, and a rhythm shaped by the land itself, this episode becomes more than a podcast - it is a journey through place, people, and the quiet power of revitalisation.
With heartfelt thanks to Aterra and the whole team for having us.
