This week, we have 26-year-old Rachel Straining. Rachel, aka @thenoglutengirl on Instagram, is not only a fabulous food blogger, but also an advocate for all things Crohn's, food intolerance & sensitivity, and bowel disease. Rachel and I connected back in 2019- I had just been diagnosed with Crohn's and felt lost in my chronic diagnosis. Little did I know, when I reached out, Rachel had hit another rock bottom of her own Crohn's journey. Having a bowel, autoimmune disease like Crohn's can be incredibly hard. Not only for the obvious reasons, like chronic pain and discomfort- but it can also be really emotionally taxing. Anxiety, isolation, not being taken seriously, self-blame, and invisible pain are all things that both Rachel & I have experienced. In this episode, we talk about that mental struggle. We discuss symptoms, getting the diagnosis and what that process looks like, finding doctors that have your best interests at heart, lifestyle and diet changes, medications, relationships, and so much more as it pertains to Crohn's.
