This week on the podcast we invite teacher and author of the book "Beyond the Bell: 12 Lessons for Navigating Your Life After High School".
In this episode we talk about the realities of raising kids in high school as parents also prepare them for an adult world (especially one that's drastically different from ours). We discuss how a lot of teachers see and hear from their students that their parents are struggling to prepare them for the adult world (from the students' perspective). We talk about what parents are doing and what additional things they could be doing to support their children in this pivotal point of their lives. We talk about the pressure of going to college, having it all figured out and common things Melissa has heard over many years from teens about their feelings when it comes to being prepared for life after high school.
Melissa also shares more about her book with us, what parents can expect to get out of it, and how beneficial this read is for students who are trying to figure their early adult life out.
