Robert Gillette sold managed service contracts for 7 years, helping an SF Bay Area company grow from $10mm to $30mm. When he left to help other MSPs grow, he found they had a problem he couldn't solve by himself. He could show them how to sell, but then they had to go try it in the real world. They'd come back beat-up and confused... It was like trying to win the Super Bowl with a great strategy that's never been tested against another team.
It's expensive and embarrassing to try new things on a prospect. You lose clients that you need to win. You waste marketing dollars.
The MSP Dojo grew out of a need for his clients to practice the skills they were learning. Then they started adding other MSPs so his clients had some people to beat up on, and it turns out they were learning just as much from being in the fight.
Now the MSP Dojo is open to anyone who needs to practice their sales craft... which it turns out is just about everyone. Every MSP needs a blackbelt in sales on their team because it's not the best MSP that wins, it's usually the best salesperson.
In this interview Robert shares his journey.
