We are reminded by Paul that trusting in our limited, flawed intellect will inevitably lead us down the path of destruction, no matter how well-intentioned we may be.
Paul reminds us that Jesus is the missing piece of the puzzle called life and that without Him, NOTHING will ever make sense.
The Spirit reminds us one more time why we can never afford to forget or walk away from the Gospel. Until Jesus comes back, we will keep fighting the urge to forget the Gospel. Let us recover it again!
What is the point of all this? The Spirit reveals that our pursuit of joy, when pointed in the right direction, glorifies God in the deepest way, as us glorifying God brings us the deepest joy we could ever experience!
Ever had to confront somebody knowing the outcome might not be favorable? This week, the Spirit reveals how loving someone may mean giving them hard truth that, even if it costs you the relationship, will be beneficial for the other's soul.
Jesus saves us to give us communion with God. In doing so, our relationships with others become opportunities to work out Kingdom principles between one another in hopes that Jesus may be glorified, even in the midst of conflict and hardships among one another.
Now that we are transformed, God invites us to jump off cycles of repentance and to get on a different path, one of consistent sanctification as we are being made more and more like Jesus from one degree of glory to the next.
Life is HARD. Rather than pretending to be strong to keep up appearances, the Gospel reveals to us that it's okay to not be okay and to lay bare before Christ just how messed up we really are sometimes.
What do you do when life throws you into a gauntlet? How do we trust God when it seems difficult to trace Him? Jesus reminds us that regardless of what life throws our way, we have the secret weapon that will get us through the storms!
When Christ transforms us, we are simultaneously putting living for God and putting sin to death. While our souls have found our way home, the rest of our selves are still playing catch up....
