The term comes from 'Feme', which actually means 'punishment', so 'gefemt' stands for
'punished'. This term was already used in the 14th century, i.e. in the Middle Ages, when so-
called Femegerichte, i.e. criminal courts, were held, whereby the term Fememord was also later
coined because within right-wing groups – especially in the 1920s – alleged traitors were then
murdered by Femegerichte. Such courts were usually secret and not legalised and, in addition,
only intended to justify political attacks and murders, etc. In particular, such courts were
common practice among Nazi organisations and Nazi groups, but this was kept secret from the
population and also from the media, and this is still being kept secret today. …
