In the 4th week of the “God’s Top 10” message series Pastor Hurmon preached from Exodus 20:4-6 (NLT). This week’s message, Don’t Make Idols! reiterated the importance of not allowing anything to take the place of God in our lives and become our idol. We make idols for ourselves when we look to something or someone to do what only God can do. God declares that He has made us in His image, and that Jesus is the perfect image; the church is to reflect Jesus.

Pastor Hurmon concluded our series, “Faith In the Midst of Reasonable Doubt,” with a message based on Mark 9:30-31 (NLT) and Matthew 27:45 (NLT). Following Jesus to the cross reveals that we must contend with suffering and evil, but how does a follower of Jesus manage? We can learn to lean in to our faith and refuse to allow the darkness to put out our light. We must live knowing that suffering is temporary.
