Craig Barnes says this: “The secret to intimacy with another person is discovering the sufficiency of God’s love without that person.” We have to find our full sufficiency, our full identity in Christ alone — Solus Christus.

Often, just reading parts of a passage is how Scripture gets taken out of context, which actually happens with this passage more often than I can count. I would bet that most women have some sort of trigger or gut reaction when hearing it. So today, we're going to dig into it a little bit.

Here’s the reality, regardless of which way we live, we eventually give up control. The question is to whom and for what benefit? When we give up control to God, our return on investment is not self-fulfillment that leads to ruin, it’s eternal fulfillment leading to a life filled with joy and significance in Christ.

If we want to execute wisdom, we have to understand God’s will. One of the ways we understand God’s will is the practice of studying the Scriptures. So, basically practice, practice, practice. This is how we can live wisely.

For better or for worse, you will become who you spend the most time with. That begs the question. Who do you spend the most time with? Are they bringing out the best in you? Or the worst in you? Are they stretching your faith? Are they challenging your blindspots? Are they holding you accountable? And are you doing the same for them?

Our actions should reflect our faith. So let’s be intentional about our pursuit of God and respond to His love by trusting Him, by giving Him praise as children of light such that His purpose becomes our mission.

We’re on the same team, and Paul knows the end goal and is trying to raise the standard of excellence for us to live up to who we were made to be. He reminds us of God’s best for our lives.

Almost any time you are feeling anxious, angry, sad, or fearful, these are the God-given warning signs to remind you to come back to the present and experience His enough-ness.

The easiest way to become like Jesus — to imitate Him — is to hang out with Him! It starts with Jesus so we can become like Jesus and ultimately live for Jesus. There’s no shortcut to spending time in the presence of God.
