One of the most intriguing stories in the Bible is of the daring rescue of the people of Israel from Egypt. The turning point of the story comes when the entire nation is reduced to wandering in the wilderness for 40 years because of a lack of faith in God. Only two men believed in God’s promise, and after nearly 45 years Caleb would still hold onto the promise that God made him. In week three of this series we will examine how sometimes strength is found in staying sure of what God promised.

Life is full of frustration, and trying to leave your past behind you is arguably one of the most frustrating parts of life. Sometimes no matter how hard you try, you keep running into your past, but what if you stopped using your strength to run from your past, and instead started using your strength to fight for your future? In week two of this series we will explore why most people never quite live up to the future they dream of, and you just may be surprised at answer.

It’s been said that what you don’t know won’t hurt you or that ignorance is bliss. When it comes to your faith however, nothing can be further from the truth. In week one of this series we will explore how when it comes to strength, most of the reason we don’t grow is because of what we don’t know.

Herod wasn’t great because he was a good person. In fact, Herod was a horrible person whose name will forever be associated with the horrible decisions he made when he was “king” in Judea. In week 3 of this message we will discover that all of humanity has a “Herod” heart, and if we’re not careful, our quest for power and control will lead us to making horrible choices that may land us on the wrong side of history.

Through fear, intimidation, and manipulation, the empire was able to control its subjects for centuries, until one day the birth of tiny child born in a tiny stable, in a tiny manger, in a tiny town made a huge impact on a huge empire that would change the course of history forever. In week 2 of this series we will explore how the Christmas story is a story about showing those who abuse power and control, that there is always someone who has more control than you.
