What does God say about our current political climate today and what does He say our response should be? Real change in the world doesn't start with an "us vs. them" mentality but in our own hearts. The question we should be asking is - "Is God alone enough for us?".

Is your faith just theory or have you put it into practice? All the knowledge in the world does us no good if we do put it into practice and "get in the game". What has God called you to stand in? It is out of the overflow of our life with God that our actions will be spurred on.

The Christian life is not a sprint, it's a marathon. If we aren't established in our faith, established in our truth, established in and strengthened by Christ, we won't be able to persevere to the end.

We cannot do discipleship without each other. Church is a family not a building! Sunday morning services are important , small groups are even more important.

We know the end so that we may have peace in the present. Jesus gave his life so that the outcome is already settled - our debt has been paid.

Are we willing to surrender our lives to the Lord so that He may work in us to refine us? Where in our lives do we need to lay down our expectations and pick up our faith?

At the end of 1 Thessalonians, in his final instructions, Paul tells us to "be at peace with all people". Who is the Lord asking you to be at peace with? Are you carrying around un-forgiveness in your heart? When you are not at peace it can affect all of the other relationships in your life. The Lord is calling us as His people to live differently, to pursue peace and live with grace.

Are you willing to lay down your rights and deny yourself, not just seeking your own comfort? Are you looking at yourself or are you looking at God? Do you feel like you're standing on solid ground or are you being swayed by the latest news? Being a disciple requires discipline.

We deceive ourselves when we look at anything other than Jesus. Lord, forgive us for all of the places where we seek comfort other than You. Our circumstances may not change but the posture or our hearts can!
