Let's be honest and subscribe to the notion, no one likes nor wants to lose. There hasn't been one grant I wrote and believed it wasn't going to be funded. I would need to pass the torch if that was the case right?!

When I didn't win, I was shocked. I was like, "C'mon, are you serious?" Someone messed up on the votes or something. Losing a grant is painful, but also detrimental to the organization. Let me explain.

In all the grants I've wrote throughout the years, I expected to win. Every grant took countless hours of research, design and thought. I truly poured my soul in each one, so when it got rejected my feelings were hurt. In the hindsight of glancing back to my initial grants, I don't think I would have approved my grant neither.

I've never loved writing papers. Reading and writing wasn't a popular pastime for me as a kid. In high school, my mother wrote my papers. It wasn't until college I began to read and write my own content. After a few years, it became easier but was never a joy until it resulted in a check.

It's amazing when everything comes together like it's supposed to. From our DIY Helping the Homeless to this podcast, we believe it's important to highlight the world of homelessness. Life is tough. However, it's tougher when you face the adversity of not knowing where your next meal is coming from or where you can lay your head down at night.
