The final few verses of Exodus 20 can be easily skimmed over as just a little additional information on top of the 10 Commandments given at the beginning of the chapter. But, ALL Scripture is inspired by the Holy Spirit of God. What is He teaching us about Christ in these verses? - Pastor Kevin

Exodus 20 contains the 10 Commandments (verses 1-17) as well as 2 other parts. Those 2 parts recount: 1) the response of the people of Israel to hearing the Law, and 2) the Law concerning the construction of an altar. We will look at just the first of these today, examining Israel's response to hearing the 10 Commandments. As we should well know by now, the book of Exodus is saturated in stories that point us to Jesus Christ, and this passage is no different. Together, let's find Christ in today's Scripture. - Pastor Kevin

The 10 Commandments, generally, can be divided into 2 main categories: the 'vertical' commandments, and the 'horizontal' commandments. The 'vertical' commandments have to do with man's relationship to God (worship); the 'horizontal' commandments have to do with man's relationship to his fellow man (service). The first 4 commandments are vertical; the final 6 are horizontal. Today, we will look at the first 4 commandments. - Pastor Kevin

This is the first sermon of the second half of the book of Exodus. Exodus can be divided into 2 large halves: 1) Pre-Sinai; and 2) At Sinai. This passage gives a description very much like a marriage proposal; God is inviting Israel to enter a covenant relationship with Him, and Israel accepts. This message deals with some grand themes like law and grace, the Old and New covenants, and the Christians' position as a royal priesthood and a holy nation before God. - Pastor Kevin

After the Lord leads Moses and the children of Israel near Mount Sinai, Jethro hears of their return and comes out to see Moses again after a long absence. After the joyful reunion, which included Moses' wife and 2 sons, Jethro sees that Moses is wearing himself thin by judging the people of Israel from sunup to sundown. Jethro offers Moses some advice, which is gladly received, at which point Jethro heads back home.
