In 1976, Circleville, Ohio, was terrorized by anonymous letters revealing personal details about residents' lives, with school bus driver Mary Gillespie as the primary target, accused of an affair with superintendent Gordon Massey. The situation escalated when Mary's husband, Ron, died in a suspicious car accident after receiving a threatening call. In 1983, a booby trap intended for Mary was discovered and linked to her brother-in-law, Paul Freshour, who was convicted of attempted murder despite dubious evidence. Yet, even after Paul's imprisonment, the letters continued, casting doubt on his guilt. Paul maintained his innocence until his death in 2012, but the true identity of the Circleville Letter Writer remains a chilling mystery.
