Part 2 of 2. Bret and Shira finish their cross examination of lawyer movies with rom com Legally Blonde. If the crime is being a pure delight, Shira thinks this movie is guilty as charged but can she convince Bret? Find out and then stick around for the sentencing as the necromancers bring the court to order with their blonde dyed horror remixes.
Part 1 of 2. Bret and Shira have requested your appearance in court for Necromancer v. Lawyer Movies. First on the stand is legal thriller, Michael Clayton. The movie may not be the perfect fit for a horror pick but the duo see no reason to acquit. After learning the legal difference between miracle workers and janitors, the necromancers rest their case by delivering their rom com remixes to the jury.
Bret and Shira want to wish you a Merry Christmas from the bottom of their hearts! Celebrate the end of the year with a walk through the winter wonderland of The Holiday (Shira's pick) followed by an ugly sweater party at the sorority house of Black Christmas (Bret's pick). Just stay out of the attic... Whether you're naughty or nice, the necromancers have just the thing to go with milk and cookies: movie remixes! Happy holidays and to all a good night.
Bret and Shira welcome a very special ghoulfriend to the podcast: Wright Sulek. Wright knows a thing or two about changing a horror into a rom com because he already did it with Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan. As he and Bret, a fellow fan of the series, horrorsplain Jason tropes for the newbie, Shira has lots of questions. For example, is Jason the most well traveled serial killer? Could Tom Hardy play Jason in the rom com version? Listen and find out.
Part 2 of 2. Bret and Shira continue to long for what will never be, a peaceful 2020 with no drama, as they end their exploration of unrequited love. Is it just their imaginations or is this stranger who looks like Scarlet Johansson really attracted to them? The pair will find out as they hitch a ride with Under the Skin, Bret's pick, and turn it into the charming rom com you never asked for. Tune in next week for our first guest episode!
Part 1 of 2. Shira has something to confess. She has a big crush on stories about unrequited love. Bret may not be equally enamored with the topic but he recognizes a nice theme that's been there all along. The necromancers begin with The Apartment, a rom com about a guy who is a professional at pining but an amateur at life. The pair then follow up with their horror versions of the classic. But will you have the courage to really tell us how you feel about them?
Part 2 of 2. Bret and Shira wrap up their coverage of Mr. Hitchcock with his one and only romantic comedy: Mr. and Mrs. Smith. They may not be the literal assassins of the 2005 movie but they create just as much chaos. The leap from romance to horror has never been easier as the necromancers pitch their suspenseful remixes.
It's an extra stuffed Thanksgiving Day special of Necromancer! Bret and Shira welcome to the table some very special guests: a killer turkey and a woman whose husbands can't stop sleeping with her siblings. That's right. It's Thankskilling (Bret's pick) versus Hannah and Her Sisters (Shira's pick). After the killer main course, the necromancers serve up their remixes for dessert.
Part 1 of 2. Bret and Shira tackle their first director themed episode with master of suspense: Alfred Hitchcock! Or is he really just the master of creating on screen chemistry with blonde women? Find out as the necromancers explore Bret's horror pick, The Birds. Stay tuned next week for Hitch's attempt at romantic comedy.
Part 2 of 2. Bret and Shira finish their tour of South Korea with I Saw the Devil. Bret's horror movie pick this week is by far the most brutal, soul crushing, and bleak movie the necromancers have reviewed for the podcast so far. It also proves that Koreans really know how to screw up your mind and look really cool doing it at the same time. Can such a dark film ever make for a heartwarming rom com remake? Hell yes it can!
