  • Needless Things Podcast 188 – Justice League

The Needless Things Irregulars gather in the Phantom Zone to discuss the newest entry into the DC Comics movieverse, Justice League!

Starting with Man of Steel in 2013, Warner Bros. has been trying to ape the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite having an available roster of arguably the best-known superheroes, the films have struggled to find acceptance, much less the acclaim of the MCU.
After a major course correction with this year’s Wonder Woman, WB has been attempting to right the ship with a lighter overall tone and more fan-pleasing interpretations of the characters. Leaving behind the darker, more grounded influence of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, the marketing of this newest film has been promising more action and high adventure, as well as some much-needed levity.
Listen in as Dave and the rest of the Irregulars discuss the highs and lows of Justice League in the newest episode of the Needless Things Podcast!

  • Needless Things Podcast 187 – GI Joe: The Movie Needless Commentary

Part of an ongoing series – the Needless Things Irregulars gather in the Phantom Zone to provide their own unique commentary on classic genre films!

This month’s movie is the 1987 animated feature, GI Joe: The Movie. The Irregulars are joined by special guest Noel from GI Joe cosplay group The Finest’s Southern Command.
Thirty years ago Hasbro planned to release an animated theatrical GI Joe feature, but those plans were derailed by the failure of similar Transformers and My Little Pony releases. The feature – which had completed production – was instead moved to a VHS release and eventually made part of the regular animated series’ syndication as a standard five-part miniseries.

Over the years many elements of the feature have come under fire, from character selection to continuity to the introduction of the feature’s villains, Cobra-La.

Listen in as Dave, Arian, Ryan, and Noel revisit this landmark in GI Joe history to discuss its worthiness!

  • Needless Things Podcast 186 – Kamikaze Zombie

Dave talks to Clint from Birmingham, Alabama horror punk/metal band Kamikaze Zombie!

Kamikaze Zombie started in 2014. They are heavy crossover band from Birmingham Al, with multiple influences from hardcore, metal, and punk. All of these very different influences led them to become their own genre of heavy music with multiple styles flowing through every KZ song. Kamikaze Zombie pushes to bring "old school" back to the masses with horror movie, serial killer themed stage shows and lyrics, black metal melodies, doom/sludge/death metal breakdowns, and in your face punk /thrash aggression.

Kamikaze Zombie has share the stage with Superjoint (Phil Anselmo and Jimmy Bower), Max and Igor Cavalera, Doyle, Crowbar, Raven, OverKill, Venom, Child Bite, GoatWhore, Iron Reagan, Battle Cross, Valient Thorr, Havck, Toxic Holocaust, Decapitated, Hammer Fight, Dark Sermon, Exalted, and many more.

  • Needless Things Podcast 184 – 31 Days of Halloween: Halloween III Needless Commentary

Part of an ongoing series – the Needless Things Irregulars gather in the Phantom Zone to provide their own unique commentary on classic genre films! October’s film was chosen via fan poll on the Needless Things Podcast Facebook Group!

Have a happy Halloween, Halloween, Halloween with the Irregulars’ October Commentary for a movie that was once seen with a degree of disdain but that seems to have gained support in the last decade or so – Halloween III: Season of the Witch!
Over three decades ago the creative control behind the Halloween movie franchise decided to leave superstar slasher Michael Myers behind and forge ahead in a new direction. John Carpenter and Debra Hill chose to try a format that would turn any future sequels into more of an anthology of Halloween-themed stories rather than centering around a single character or setting. As a result, we now have this apocalyptic tale of terror!
Listen in as Dave, Arian, Ryan, and Rad Ranger gather together thirty-five years to the day after the original release date to share their thoughts on Season of the Witch!

  • Needless Things Podcast 183 – 31 Days of Halloween: Corpsewood Manor

This special episode of the Needless Things Podcast presents the exploration of Corpsewood Manor, the site of murders that shocked Georgia in the early 1980s. Dave, Ryan Cadaver, and Rad Ranger traveled to Trion, Georgia to examine the once majestic ruins of the ill-fated paradise.

In December of 1982 Dr. Charles L. Scudder and his partner, Joseph Odom were murdered inside their dream home in the remote woods of the Chattahoochee National Forest. The openly gay couple had a reputation for Satanism and homemade drugs, and were despised by some in the local community.
Listen in as the Needless Commentary crew investigates the occurrence and explores the site in the newest episode of the Needless Things Podcast!

From long-running feuds with his brother the Undertaker to Inferno Matches to being a masked monster seeking revenge upon those that have wronged him, Kane’s legacy is steeped in the macabre.
Outside of wrestling Kane portrayed one of the latest and biggest in the grand lineage of slashers, Jacob Goodnight in the See No Evil movie franchise!

  • Needless Things Podcast 180 – Star Trek: Discovery

The Needless Things Irregulars gather in the Phantom Zone to watch Star Trek: Discovery!

Discovery is the newest entry into the mighty Star Trek franchise, and one that CBS is hoping will lure customers to subscribe to their proprietary streaming service. Basically nobody is happy about that, and it's possible that before too much longer CBS isn't going to be happy about it, either. But that's neither here nor there.
In today's episode, the Commentary team is joined by Mike Gordon, Gary Mitchel, and Monica Moniker to watch the premiere episode of Discovery and provide pre- and post-show thoughts.
Listen in as Dave, Arian, Rad Ranger, and the rest react to Star Trek: Discovery - “Vulcan Hello”!
