Today on the podcast, we’re joined by my friend and fellow Michigander, Chuck Marshall!
Chuck is a staple of the Michigan music scene as a photographer, which is where I met him years ago, in another life. He’s a craft beer explorer and co-founder of Life In Michigan and GIG - The Art of Michigan Music Newsletter. He’s also the one who introduced me to Substack, so I could annoy all of you faithful friends and listeners, for which I am eternally grateful.
Capturing the raw energy of live music for years, from sweaty punk shows in Pontiac to thrash metal in Detroit, with his work featured in Loud Hailer Magazine and National Rock Review. He doesn’t stop at the stage, of course. Chuck also travels the state (sometimes world) documenting brewery culture, festivals, and hidden gems, all while blending storytelling, photography, and a love for the road. We talk music, beer, travel, pet peeves and how to stay creative when your passions are always on the move.
