Nelsonville Assembly

In our final week of our Connected Series, Dr. Mark Hausfeld brings out the importance of our mission in a powerful way. As Christians, we are called to engage every lost person whom God gives us the opportunity to encounter. This is clear from Acts 17, where we hear that God determines the places and times for every person. We are being given a great opportunity today that we want to make the most of in every way!

"A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master." - This phrase from Jesus is used in 4 places across the Gospel accounts. In Week 3 of this series, Pastor Isaiah demonstrates how rather than highlighting the distinction between us, Christ is actually identifying with us, providing an example for us, and promising to make us like Him in this glorious teaching.

In this service, we have the joy of hearing from The Nash Team, our missionaries to Botswana, Africa. We are proud to partner with them in support as they live out the mission of all Christians: to proclaim the Gospel and make disciples in their local context in Africa.

In the first of this 5 week series, Pastor Isaiah preached from II Corinthians 5:17-21 about the Gospel Message, our Mission as Christians, and the need for discipleship to accomplish our task.

As we prepared for our 2020 Annual Business Meeting, we took a few moments to celebrate what God has done in our church in 2019 with a brief recap video.

In the message, Pastor Isaiah talked about the purpose of being the people of God that He has chosen to live and serve Him in this area. We are called a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession... but all of that is so we will proclaim His excellencies and Gospel!

As we enter a New Year, we have much to thank God for in the growth He has given our church in terms of attendance, but more importantly, in terms of membership. What does it mean to be a church member and what are the implications of that for our lives? Pastor Isaiah lays out the responsibilities of the church toward members and of members to the church in this message before welcoming our two newest members, Caleb & Carrie Wilson, into our church body.

As we enter the New Year and a Week of Prayer Emphasis in our church, Pastor Isaiah shared from Colossians 4:2 about this threefold command for God's people in prayer. To be devoted, to remain watchful and intentional, and to pray with thanksgiving and gratitude should be the guiding principles for every believer. As we grow in prayer in 2020, we are asking the Lord to make these things more and more true of each of us.

To conclude 2019, we turn our focus onto the Attributes of God and consider His Aseity, or more plainly, His Self-Existence and Independence. This beautiful and complex reality of who God is sets Him apart from us in truly compelling ways.

As our final act of corporate worship, we celebrate our dependence upon God and His provision for us in the grace of salvation through Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice upon the cross by taking the Lord's Supper together.

Peace. In a world filled with conflict, and ultimately in our own hearts which are filled with conflict, this is our greatest need. Pastor Isaiah shares how Christ, God the Son who came to be with us, brings True Peace and meets our greatest needs.

Light. For weeks, as the candles have been light and our focus is set up Christ, we have waited for the message of hope - The True Light of the World has come. In this special service, we celebrate the First Advent of God Incarnate, the Son given to redeem mankind.
