NRC Reviews A.X.E. Judgment Day #3 and A.X.E. Death To The Mutants #1 by Kieron Gillen!
Judgment Day begins. The heroes know what they have to do. But do they have to do it? They were smart enough to get themselves into this mess. Maybe they can be smart enough to get out of it...
DRUIG, the current Prime Eternal, determined that Earth's mutants represent excess deviation--and therefore, he has set to destroy them all. Drug unleashed the HEX, giant Eternals, to attack the mutant nation of KRAKOA, triggering war.
A faction of the ETERNALS opposed to Druig's plan are working together with the AVENGERS and the kidnapped mutant geneticist, MR. SINISTER. Together, they used the Avengers' headquarters, the deceased body of Celestial, to create a new, living god the PROGENITOR. However, once awakened, the Progenitor announced to everyone on Earth that within 24 hours they will all be judged. And if found lacking. all will die!
The mutants are Deviants. Eternals are coded to correct excess deviation. The mutants are eternal, Mars colonizers, ever-spreading. Eternals know what they should do. Our heroes don't want to, but can they resist the murderous designs coded into their body as surely as any Sentinel? And if they can't, can anyone survive the coming judgment?
The ETERNALS were created by the alien space gods known as the CELESTIALS to protect the Earth. One of the Eternals' chief directives is to correct excess deviation. DRUIG. the current Prime Eternal, recently determined that Earth's mutants, with their ability to resurrect themselves, represent excess deviation -and therefore, he has set out to destroy them all. The Eternals loyal to Druig launched a multipronged attack against all mutants. Meanwhile, a faction of the Eternals opposed to Druig are plotting against him, allying themselves with the AVENGERS, who are headquartered in the body of a dead Celestial.
