Nerds From the Crypt

John Horsley, talked to us about “The Eynes Anthology”. Book one opens up the world and tells you 10 stories told by various authors and artists from different spots on the Eynes family tree throughout history! This is more than an anthology, this is not just a collection of stories around a central theme. This is a collection of stories that tell you a larger narrative. The stories intertwine together and weave throughout history.

I included a portion of the campaign ad at the beginning of the episode. If you would like to listen to the whole ad, stayed tuned after the episode or head over to the project on Kickstarter and help get this funded.

You can also find out more about “The Eynes Anthology” on social media on Twitter|Facebook|Instagram.

Throughout history monsters and demons have haunted every aspect of your family lineage, murdering, kidnapping, converting, even falling in love."

The Nerds get together for Horror News #3. We talk about horror news from around the web. It seems like there are several new horror projects being announced every week, and we try to keep on top of it all in these episodes. I have been feeling under the weather, which means David took the wheel on this one.

Horror Topics

It’s a great time to be alive for horror fans. We only touched on a couple of the items and series that have been announced. Check below to see a timestamp for each topic.

(02.00) Resident Evil 2 remake is a survival horror game that has blown us away with the updated graphics. We also talk about the news that Netflix will be producing a series based on the video game series.

(05:45) Polar is a neo-noir action crime drama film based on the 2012 webcomic. The Netflix original movie stars Mads Mikkelsen, and it is available for streaming now.

(07:20) We tried to talk about Bird Box, but that conversation goes nowhere, as Greg and David had yet to see it.

(08:20) Umbrella Academy is a Netflix original series and is adapted from the comic book series of the same name. It will be released on February 15, 2019.

(11.24) We talk about several projects that Jordan Peele will be working on. We mentioned Us, The Twilight Zone (2019), and the Candyman remake/reboot.

(15:45) Todd McFarlane has announced a new Spawn movie starring Jamie Foxx.

(19:40) Hellboy (2019) is an American Supernatural superhero film based on the Dark Horse comic book character of the same name.

(21:25) Netflix has announced Stranger Things season 3 will debut on July 4, 2019.

(25:20) We talked about Happy Death Day 2U which reminded us that Netflix’s Russian Doll has a similar plot device.

(26:50) Clive Barker has announced he will have a new series based on series of horror collections “Books of Blood“.

Tess Pfeifle, the lead researcher for Astonishing Legends, joined us to talk about Krampus. Before talking about the movie, Tess helps us discuss the Krampus myth from around the world. It was a great pleasure to have Tess visit us in the crypt.

I was late to watching this one, mainly because I didn’t know the tone the movie was going for. I was surprised by the black humor that was in it. Not only was it hilarious, but also a great horror movie.

Our original plan was to review Krampus back in 2017, but we never had the chance to record it. I immediately thought of Tess when we decided it was time to review this movie. We hope she decides to come back and review other horror movies in the future.

"While the holiday season represents the most magical time of year, ancient European folklore warns of Krampus, a horned beast who punishes naughty children at Christmastime. When dysfunctional family squabbling causes young Max (Emjay Anthony) to lose his festive spirit, it unleashes the wrath of the fearsome demon. As Krampus lays siege to the Engel home, mom (Toni Collette), pop (Adam Scott), sister (Stefania LaVie Owen), and brother must band together to save one another from a monstrous fate."

Tess Pfeifle & Astonishing Legends

Make sure to tune in and listen to Astonishing Legends, where they take a look at legendary strange and unusual events from throughout history and interview people who’ve had close encounters with the unexplained.

You can follow Tess and Astonishing Legends on Twitter. You can also head over to the Facebook Group by clicking here. I also wanted to leave links to my two favorite episodes of Astonishing Legends.

Today I am re-uploading the lost episode of Nick and I reviewing Demon Knight. Nick has been gone for a year, and it feels like its so much longer than that. I hope you all enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed recording it with Nick.

This was originally the 2nd episode of Nerds from the Crypt. Way before we had our proper theme song and when we were still trying to get used to podcasting.  I hope you all enjoy this episode.

"Ex-soldier Frank Brayker (William Sadler) is the guardian of an ancient key that can unlock tremendous evil. The sinister but charming Collector (Billy Zane) is a demon who wants the key so he can initiate the apocalypse. On the run from wicked mercenaries for almost 90 years, Brayker finally stops in at a boarding house in New Mexico where -- with the help of its quirky residents -- he plans to face off against the Collector and his band of ghouls, preventing them from ever seizing the key."

P.S. I tried recording an intro for this episode but I had numerous tech issues. Which is funny, cause we always played that Nick would haunt us by causing tech issues to annoy us.
