We talk about the elections.  This was recorded before the second debate but I think that the second debate was irrelevant enough that it doesn't matter. Oh and apparently Marcelo is spelt with 1 L and not 2 like I had previously spelt it, but when he starts editing and uploading and eventually advertising, he can spell his name however he wants.  For now, it's Marcello. 

Marcello and I talk about Kwame Antony Appiah's book The Honor Code and Breitbart's idea that politics is downstream from culture. We're getting less pretentious, I promise. 

This is part 2 of our episode on Surveillance Capitalism.  We talked about freedom, and how to escape the shackles of technology. If you haven't listened to part 1, you should. Oh and share it.  Marcello only name dropped twice in this podcast. Promise.

This podcast is based on a book called Surveillance Capitalism by Shoshana Zuboff. It's one of the books behind Netflix, the Social Dilemma. We talk about what it is we're living through and how we go there. 

There was so much to talk about this is just part 1. 

We talk about religion and our search to reach the buddha state. Nah Marcello's a religious atheist and I'm...well..I don't really know. We're on the search, that's all I'll say. 

We get a little personal on this one after watching Indian Matchmaker on Netflix.  Marcello tells me how great his marriage is and I pine after a woman.  Not exactly, but it sounds good.   But really, I'm almost ready for Aparna. 

Marcello and I gas about a Black Mirror episode, called ArkAngel (season 4 if you want to check it out). The premise is a mom wants to keep a closer eye on her kid and installs a microchip through which she can see anything if she chooses. It's surveillance parenting.  It's pretty creepy--but that's Black Mirror. We talk about what we would do with out future kids, managing stress and being comfortable choosing not to know. Cheers. 

As COVID drags on and people get used to wearing masks and social distancing, we wonder if this is going to change people forever. How much is health and safety going to become our obsession? We both think it'll be a while. Also enjoy our new theme music. 

We talk about whether the protests will change anything, what they want to achieve and whether it's achievable. Marcello also rambles about something, I still haven't figured out what he meant.  Maybe you can let us know.  We weren't feeling pretentious enough so we talked about John Rawls. Yup. We're the worst.
