New Albany Presbyterian Church: Sunday Sermons

This Sunday, Rev. Dr. Dean Weaver preaches for NAPC in our series "Brave by Faith". His sermon "From Generation to Generation" is focusing on Daniel 4 in which King Nebuchadnezzar has his second dream that Daniel has to interpret. We find that the king comes to terms with the Holy King that is over all of the earth, and praises our Great God - instead of himself.

Today’s idols are understated compared to golden statues, but this only makes it easier to worship them. Christians are to faithfully obey our God’s commands, trusting he is for us even in the hottest of life’s fires.

God is always in control and at work. We can trust Him no matter what comes.

Daniel and his friends were able to maintain faithfulness to God in a very challenging environment by holding onto the sovereignty of God.

Life is uncertain and brings many trials and challenges, but we can rely on the holy, just, merciful, and awesome God of the universe. He has proven His care for His people with what He has done in the past and His promises for the future, which should cause us to rejoice in all circumstances and to trust His plan.

Where do we ultimately place our trust? Jesus teaches that the degree of our generosity gives evidence of the disposition of our hearts—whether we have an immediate and worldly mindset or an eternal kingdom attitude.

Having been given this gift of relationship with the Father through the Son by the power of the Spirit, we are commanded to GO OUT into the world with the Gospel and to give generously to fund the mission of NAPC.

We need each other to be faithful to Jesus and courageous witnesses in the world.

Jesus, the gentle and lowly Savior, uses humble people to do extraordinarily courageous things in and through the local church as we look UP.

In an amazing encounter between God and Moses, God describes Himself for the first time in Scripture. What God reveals is that He is an awesome God who is worthy of all worship and Moses shows us how we ought to respond to Him.
