In this week’s episode of the New Artist Spotlight Podcast Wilko Wilkes talks to award-winning Nashville based singer-songwriter Bernice Marsala. They discuss the Nashville music scene, how Bernice won awards for her songwriting and how she balances motherhood and being an artist.Bernice is a lifelong singer/songwriter and classically-trained guitarist. She studied music and audio production in college and graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelor’s in Music Business. She is originally from Sycamore, IL and now resides in the Nashville, TN area with her husband (who is the drummer on many of her tracks) and their two-year-old baby girl. Her early works are primarily in the Folk/Singer-Songwriter genres, but she has since leaned more into Alternative Folk and Folk Rock, and enjoys dabbling in different musical styles. She has often been compared to Michelle Branch, Ingrid Michaelson, and Avril Lavigne, to name a few, but based on the stylistic variety of her songwriting catalog, some would say that she's in a genre of her own.
