In this final episode of the series, we are going to be looking at the power of taking a step of faith by looking at person in the Bible that people don't talk much about. This person made a HUGE step of faith and in doing so, He saw God's hand move through him to accomplish the otherwise impossible. What can God do through you when you take a step like that? Sacrifice is a powerful word that can conjure up powerful images and feelings.  When you hear that word, you might think about an animal being slaughtered on an altar.  You might think about soldiers fighting to defend others.  You might think of police officers or firefighters.  You might think of a mother or father who works to provide for their children.  When you think about sacrifice, there are a number of things you might think of, but one thing is for sure…those images come attached to some powerful emotions.  Why?  It’s because we have all been affected by someone else’s sacrifice in some way or another.

Sacrifice does not only have an effect on us…it can have an effect on God, as well.  Sacrifice is close the heart of God as much as it is close to our hearts.  Sacrifice can be incredibly effective when it comes to activating God’s hand in your life.  When you are in a place where you have done all you can do or when you are in a place where you are facing something you will never be strong enough to handle, going to God from a place of sacrifice is a very powerful thing.  If you have been praying and praying for something and you have not seen an answer yet, consider offering God a sacrifice.

Each episode of this series, we are going to be breaking down one of those things as we we learn that God often moves as a response to human action.  If you read through the Bible, you’ll find many stories showing that very thing.  If you have been waiting for God to move and He still hasn’t, it could be that one of these things will be the key to activating the hand of God in your life.

In this final episode of the series, we talk about possessing the land.

Jesus has given us the victory.  He defeated sin.  He set us free.  He brought us to the Promised Land and He has given us the land…so to speak.  He made us new.  That said…there are still parts of our lives where carnality exists.  There are still areas in our lives where battles need to be fought. 

Spiritual warfare is not kicking the devil off of his territory.  It’s about telling him to get off of ours.  The difference is who has a claim to the land.  The difference is who has a right to be there and who does not.  The difference is the level of authority we will approach it with.

You aren’t telling him to leave so you can take what is his.  You are telling him to leave because it’s already yours and he has no claim over it.

The Bible is full of incredible stories of faith and of miracles.  Of all miracles described in the Bible, there is one that seems to really stand out as especially incredible.  That miracle is found in the passage we are exploring…when a man addressed the sun and addressed the moon and they obeyed.

We are going to go back to the story we talked about last episode because there is a powerful moment we skipped over that we need to come back to.  We talked about how Israel was deceived into a covenant because they did not seek the Lord for council and we talked about how they were drawn into a battle shortly afterward because of that.  Since we are in a series about spiritual warfare, we'll pull out something significant that happened in that battle because it gives us some more powerful tools we can use when doing spiritual warfare against the enemy.

Deception is a very common tactic in battle and make no mistake…the enemy of your soul is an expert at it.  He is a master deceiver…a master manipulator…and a master distracter.  He deceived Eve in the garden.  He deceived many throughout scripture, history, and he has even deceived you and me at different times in our lives.  The world we are in right now has been deceived thoroughly to the point that knowing truth has become rare and speaking the truth is considered hateful.  This is a result of influence of a master deceiver. Remember, our battle is not against flesh and blood.  People are not your enemy.  If you ever lose sight of that simple truth, you open yourself up to deception. In this episode, I want to take a few moments to share with you how to avoid falling to the deception of the enemy.

How does your faith handle it when you lose a battle?  What happens when you fall into an old pattern and sin?  What happens when you fall short?  What happens when that person you were praying for, that you thought was coming around, turns and walks away again?  We have talked about the incredible battle that happened at Jericho and how God gave them victory.  In this episode, we are going to continue that story as we deal with the question, “What do I do when I lose a battle?” 

Using the example of the Israelites marching around Jericho, it's time to talk about aggressive spiritual battle tactics by looking at how our thoughts and words play a part in spiritual warfare.

Just before the people of Israel took the promised land, there were a few things that happened. In this episode, we'll discover that there is something really valuable here that we need to take some time on…a lesson that is far too important to miss…a lesson that has generational impact.  That the same God who did miracles for previous generations can and will do miracles for our generation and the next one…and that it is our job to make sure the next generation knows it.
