Why don't we pray as we should?

There are several reasons why Christians fail in this area; being too busy, unbelief, lack of discipline and seemingly unanswered prayer are just a few.

They say that most of us are following someone or something. Maybe it's a sports team, artist or your favorite YouTube channel or podcast.

Have you ever asked the question, "why does God allow us to face trials?"

In today's message we hope to answer that question. It's hard for us to imagine why Jesus had to face temptation in the desert. He teaches us how to come out smelling like roses.

Why did a perfect man need to be baptized? Good question, right?

Does it surprise you to know that God allows us to face hard times? It's true, and we see it throughout the history of Israel in the Old Testament. 

When we choose to rebel against God, or go our own way He does not stop us, but there are consequences to our actions. Yet even in these times, God remembers His covenant relationship with his people and is faithful to his promise to provide restoration. That is exactly what He did in sending His Son Jesus.

God is always faithful.

Can you imagine how a small town girl named Mary must have felt when all of a sudden an angel approaches her and tells her that she is going to play a key role in the redemption of the whole world? That is exactly what occurred in the first century. 

In this weeks message we will look at that important event and the seemingly insignificant people and places that God chose for the birth of His Son, Jesus. His name in Hebrew is Yeshua, which means "God delivers". 

What are you waiting for? The prophet Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth waited many years for God to bless them with a child. During a time of service in the temple an angel appeared to Zechariah and told him that God heard his prayers and that his wife Elizabeth would bear him a son and they were to name him John. The name John means, "God is gracious."

We all face times of waiting or trial and may wonder when God will respond, but we need to be reminded that God is always faithful and remembers his covenant.

After long delays it is easy to become frustrated or disappointed, if not altogether hopeless. Israel's history is replete with God seemingly to delay action. For millennia, the people of God had long awaited a great savior and deliverer. Christmas is the final arrival of that awaited deliverer.
