The story of the Passover in Exodus 11 & 12 tells of how God protected the families of Israel from the 10th Plague. Their simple obedience in applying the blood of the lamb on the doorposts of their homes demonstrates the way our trust in God can lead to a day of liberation.

The people of God were delivered from slavery in Egypt through God's mighty hand for the purpose of worshiping Him. The story of the Ten Plagues reveals God's power over the gods of Egypt reminding us there is no other God like the God of Israel.

Throughout Scripture God is presented as a Liberator. The stories of Exodus in particular reveal God's powerful acts of liberation in favor of his people. Today God continues to manifest his power by liberating us from the bondage of sin and sickness.

Jesus called his disciples with two simple words: Follow me. But these two simple words actually describe a much more difficult task: discipleship.

The parable of the sower reminds us of the process of evangelization. Just like others patiently waited for the seed of the gospel to grow in us, we have to sow with patience in the life of our friends and family.

In the midst of our busy stress-filled lives, it is a relief to hear Jesus call us to rest in Him. Indeed, our following of Jesus should lead us into his rest.

This month our purpose will be to understand the gospel as Jesus himself presented it. For this, we will focus on his words in the gospel of Matthew. The first teaching takes as point of departure the beginning of Jesus' ministry and the calling of the first disciples.

The passage reveals three important aspects of the gospel, which is a call to repentance, discipleship, and service.

The mind is the arena where spiritual warfare takes place. In order to win the battle against sin we must allow God to renew it. Today's teaching focuses on winning the battle for the mind by becoming living sacrifices, daring to be different, and renewing it through God's Word.

In chapters 6-8 of Romans, Paul describes the Christian's internal struggle with sin and announces the freedom provided for us in Christ.

This week we studied three important passages in the letter to the Romans where Paul presents the heart of the Gospel.
