What is your refuge? To what do you run when seeking shelter or protection? Where do you go and what do you do? What emotions do you feel? And what does God have to say about this?

We go to movies; read literature; our kids play pretend games that all have the same theme: there’s a hero; some guy or gal saves the day and makes everything awesome. But in the real world where we live and work and play, who do you consider a true hero? The word of the Lord comes to a hesitant prophet named Jonah, and it’s through Jonah that we learn heroes— those who make a difference — are simply the ones who say “yes.”

Joel McCarty • The book of Jonah causes us to look for salvation from someone greater than Jonah. Through the providence, power, patience, and person of YHWH, God's covenant people will be held fast to the end. Truly, salvation belongs to the LORD.

Joel McCarty • Jonah is a familiar story many of us learned when we were children. However, the real story of Jonah is more rich than we could imagine at first glance. The main character of the story is Yahweh, the one true God of Israel. And He is sure to chase down and pursue His people, no matter how hard we try to run away.

Christians are called to fight the good fight of faith. But what does this mean? And what obstacles stand in the way of us doing so? May we look to the One who fought the ultimate battle on our behalf for guidance in this endeavor.

Chris Kenney • The glory of God covers the earth by the Kingdom expanding to all nations, tribes, and tongues. The good news is that Christ has already accomplished the work, and we're invited to play a part. 

Joel McCarty • John closes his gospel narrative reminding us that what Jesus has accomplished with His life, death, burial, and resurrection is uncontainable. There is no way to measure what Christ has done and will do. He is altogether marvelous and good.

Joel McCarty • Peter has fallen and forsaken his calling. But Jesus relentlessly pursues and meets him in his place of shame. For those in Christ, redemption is not only possible. Because of the cross and resurrection, redemption is guaranteed.

Kevin Perry • Thomas is skeptical. But Jesus shows up anyways. Through doubt, skepticism, confusion, and pain, Jesus remains faithful. This story is recorded so that we might believe in King Jesus, and that by believing, we might find life in His name.
