Legendary Patriots cornerback and kickoff returner, Raymond Clayborn, joins In The Huddle host Pete Brock to reflect on their time together on the Patriots, their teammates, and more. Clayborn was drafted by the Patriots in 1977 in the first round (16th overall) and went on to play 13 seasons in New England, from 1977-1989. He was an outstanding cornerback, setting the franchise record with 36 career interceptions, a record which only Ty Law matched in 2004 and remains today. His 555 interception return yards rank second in franchise history to Law’s 583. He was also a renowned kickoff returner, returning 57 kickoffs for 1,538 yards and three touchdowns in his career. As a rookie, he returned 28 kickoffs for 869 yards and led the NFL with a 31.0-yard return average and returned three kicks for touchdowns, both of which remain franchise records. Cunningham played 9 seasons in New England, from 1973-1979 and 1981-82, where he accumulated a franchise record 5,453 rushing yards with 43 rushing touchdowns to accompany them (2nd in team history). He also played a large part in helping the Patriots set the NFL record for most rushing yards in a season with 3,165 yards in 1978, a contribution that earned him a Pro Bowl selection. For starters, in his 13 years with the Pats, Morgan hauled in 534 career receptions for 10,352 receiving yards, a franchise record. This career average of 19.2 yards per catch still stands as an NFL record for those with more than 500 career receptions. A four-time Pro Bowl honoree, he also was a fine punt returner, ranking among the career leaders in Patriots history. In 2007, Morgan was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame.
