This week, we explore Core 4 of Core52: Covenant. From God's covenant with Abraham to the new covenant through Christ, we will examine the significance of covenant in the Christian faith. Understanding covenant is key to our understanding of sin, grace, and salvation, and shapes our relationship with God and with others. This week is Core 3 - The Fall. We'll explore the biblical account of the first humans' disobedience and the catastrophic consequences that followed. Understanding the Fall is crucial to grasping the Christian worldview and its implications for our lives. We'll discuss the profound impact of sin on humanity and the world, as well as the hope that Christ offers in overcoming the effects of the Fall. Join us as we explore why it matters what we believe about The Fall.

This Sunday is Core 2: Identity. Identity shapes every aspect of our lives. In Ephesians 1, we see that our identity as Christians is grounded in God's gracious and sovereign work of choosing, adopting, redeeming, forgiving, and sealing us in Christ. This echoes the language of Genesis 1:26, where humanity is created in God's image and likeness. Our identity as image-bearers gives us a unique dignity, value, and purpose that reflect our Creator's character and will. Understanding our identity in Christ and as image-bearers can transform our worldview, ethics, and mission.

Our memory verse this week is Genesis 1:26: "God said, “Let us make man in our image.”

This week, we discussed the importance of understanding the creation story as foundational to the Christian worldview, as well as it's implications for our lives, and why it matters what we believe about Creation.

Stephen Weatherby begins a new series of messages on the Letter to the Galatians, called "Standing on Grace". This week we set the stage, talking about what was happening at the time to prompt the letter to be written. The Galatian church was beginning to listen to false teachers who were distorting the Gospel. Although 2000 years has past, we are always at risk of falling for the same traps. There is only one Gospel that truly gives us freedom, and we must cling to it.

This New Years Day, we explored the new life we have in Christ, in contrast to the old life we possessed in sin. We have new life and a new identity in Jesus; the old way of living life doesn’t matter anymore. We can strive to fix the brokenness and insecurity in their lives, only to fail. But Jesus brings new life and a death to the old self and old way of living.

Stephen Weatherby begins an Advent series on John chapter 1, called The Light Has Come. This week, we studied John 1:1-9, and discussed the coming of Jesus as God's Word made flesh, to illuminate our world.
