Brendon has moved to many places throughout his life and crossed many borders. Yet, most of his moves are somehow connected to Latin America, the Nordics and his home country the US.
We talk a lot about how different places can become your home, how moving to different countries can influence you but also about the difficulty to draw a line between the impact a country has on you and the impact of growing older, of life in general. And we talk about the type of home you want to build for your children.
Thank you – Brendon – for providing me with insights into your personal story of moving & settling!
Aubhro moved together with his wife from India to Stockholm in 2015. He moved through work which helped him a lot with the practicalities around the move, but no one could have possibly made him understand the huge differences between the two countries. With lovely anecdotes and metaphors, he illustrates the obstacles and surprising moments he had when settling into Sweden. I’m impressed by how much Aubhro is embracing the Swedish way of life today.
Thank you – Aubhro – for sharing your vivid view on Sweden, India & this world!
Stephen’s background story even before moving to Sweden could fill an entire episode, but also his journey in Sweden has given me many new perspectives. I learnt a lot about the importance of family and knowledge, about how cold Sweden can feel after the heat of different African countries and how social distance can be overcome. And after his illustrative descriptions I would like to experience a proper street tea gathering one day!
Thank you – Stephen – for giving me so many interesting insights!
Aleko moved from Sofia/Bulgaria to Linköping for his master’s degree. We talk a lot about studies: his bachelor studies in the Netherlands, his Erasmus semester in Krakow/Poland and about the differences & similarities in studying in different places. But also I learn interesting things about the Balkan region. Aleko reflects about his origin but also has a differentiated view on his new home Sweden.
Thank you – Aleko – for being the first guest in my podcast!
