We’ve all had those moments when our life gets flipped upside down and the world starts spinning. That’s exactly how Joseph must’ve felt when he heard Mary was pregnant. We can learn a lot from how he responds. 

We are never to approach the Lord’s Table lightly, casually, or inappropriately. The Lord’s Table is to be approached reverently and discreetly. The Communion table represents a holy and sacred time in the Lord’s presence. The Lord's Supper replaced the Passover Meal. Jesus was modeling a paradigm shift from the Old Covenant to the New Covenant. From the Old Testament to the New Testament. From the Temple to the Church. From Priests to Preachers. In the Old Testament the sheep died for the shepherd. In the New Testament the Shepherd dies for the sheep.

The communion table reminds us to look back at the cross and look forward to the future glory in heaven. 

Because we can’t see the spiritual activity inside people, we tend to think people aren’t ready yet. But Jesus says the harvest is now. We can experience the reward of making an eternal impact today.

We are unworthy of his love, but he loves us anyways. He sees through the polished image we project to the truth of who we are, but the truth of his love overcomes the truth of our sinfulness.
