We are never to approach the Lord’s Table lightly, casually, or inappropriately. The Lord’s Table is to be approached reverently and discreetly. The Communion table represents a holy and sacred time in the Lord’s presence. The Lord's Supper replaced the Passover Meal. Jesus was modeling a paradigm shift from the Old Covenant to the New Covenant. From the Old Testament to the New Testament. From the Temple to the Church. From Priests to Preachers. In the Old Testament the sheep died for the shepherd. In the New Testament the Shepherd dies for the sheep.

The communion table reminds us to look back at the cross and look forward to the future glory in heaven. 

The World today is struggling with three fundamental pillars. They are monumental and systemic issues within the culture and the nation today. Everything you live, breathe, and believe rest upon these great pillars. The message from the culture and the media is, “do not believe what your lying eyes are seeing.” The pressing question of the hour is what the Lord has to say about what we are hearing, seeing, and experiencing within the devolution of the nation.

The Bible has many portraits of God, ways we can understand who he is and how he relates to us. One of the most beautiful is what we will explore today, he is our “Chief Shepherd.”

We all pray for things, don’t we? We ask God to answer, to respond, to “move mountains” that are beyond our ability to overcome. And all throughout the Bible we find promises that God LOVES to help his people in time of need by answering their heartfelt prayers.
So what do we do with the fact some prayers don’t seem to be answered, or the answer is a long time in coming, or the answer is “no” and we don’t understand why?
What do we do ... when the mountain DOESN’T move?

Colossians 1:15-23 is famously tabbed the “Hymn of Christ” and is perhaps the most comprehensive passage of Scripture that talks directly about who Christ is (Christology).

Paul explains how Christ is Lord over all creation, His church, and even the redemption story. Paul reminds the church that the Lordship of Christ deserves our deepest adoration and devotion. The question of what the people of God will prioritize is of essential value to Paul within this passage.

So for the reader today, Is Christ preeminent, prominent, popular, or pushed aside in your life?

Without Christ nothing else matters and Christ must be the preeminent priority in every area of our lives.

Worldview perspectives shape how we approach people with the Gospel, how they hear it and most significantly how they will respond to it. While the Gospel message must never be subdued, the Apostle Paul demonstrates in Acts 17 the need to maintain a “dynamic approach” to communicating biblical truth and a biblical worldview. At some time, God invaded your world with the Truth – it’s our responsibility to bridge the gap between worldviews, that by God’s grace others may know it too. 

Change can be hard. Whether it's change in our personal lives, our families, our churches, or our nation, sometimes it's hard to know what to do when everything around us feels uncertain. Paul in times of physical imprisonment, reminds the church at Philippi that God’s plan for his life is so much greater than anything we as humans can comprehend or understand. He encourages the church at Philippi to embrace the perspective that all of life should be viewed within the lens of God’s rule and reign, as described in Scripture. Paul stresses the power and sufficiency of the Gospel and how even in times of imprisonment, the Gospel is still transforming lives! This kingdom perspective should form within us as believers a mission-oriented life that deeply longs for lost people to encounter Jesus as Lord and Savior! Even when going through difficult circumstances, dealing with difficult people, or navigating difficult emotions, the kingdom perspective allows us to truly live a life worthy of the Gospel!
