1 Peter 3.13-17
1) Christians as model naturalized citizens in the world. [3.13 cf. 2.13-17]
2) Nevertheless, there is suffering because our hope is not theirs, their hope is not ours. [3.14]
3) How do we respond to this suffering so as to broadcast God’s majesty and mercy?
A) Majesty
i) Do not fear what they fear. Set apart Christ as Lord. [3.14-15]
ii) Your conscience is the place within you where that occurs. [3.16]
iii) Pessimism and Optimism are heresy. Christians hope in God. [3.15]
B) Mercy
i) Suffering wrongdoing is the cost of authentic witness to Christ’s cross. [3.17]
4) Application: Sabbath Shalom
