“When I’m Not Enough”

Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.  2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭7b‬-‭8‬ (‭NIV)

Brokenness is the killer of self-sufficiency.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”   2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭9a‬ (‭NIV)‬‬

Your brokenness makes room for Him to move.

Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

God’s strength allows me to endure while He works on me.

Brokenness is the path to His presence. 

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?” The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”

Brokenness - The result of sin in our lives and in the world. 

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings…

We are made Spiritually whole and yet still live in a broken world. 

“You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”

God meets us in the broken places.
