This week we unpacked Hannah’s prayer in 1 Samuel, as we learned how to pray without giving up.

Hannah’s prayer was PURPOSEFUL

Hannah’s prayer was PIVOTAL

So in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel saying, “Because I asked the Lord for him.”

How can a person live the command to never stop praying? Martin Luther, the German friar and theologian gave us an idea when he said, "To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing."

If you are a follower of Christ, you must make the conscious decision to walk through life, not simply looking this way and that way, but choosing to look up. Look up first thing in the morning. Look up in little moments throughout the day. Look up as you end you day and lay down your head to sleep. Look to God like it's breathing. Look up in praise, gratitude, and prayer.

Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

This week we looked at another one of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians where he shows us how we can pray to have strength when we're feeling empty. Here are three prayer to get you started this week.

1. Pray for Inner Strength

Lord, strengthen my inner being so that I can stand firm and not be guided by my circumstances. Help me live from the inside out.

2. Pray to Know and Experience God's Love

Lord, may I never stop longing to know and experience more of your love.

3. Pray to be Filled with the Fullness of God

Lord, help me not settle for less of you when you have promised us your fullness. May my life be overflowing with your presence.
