From 1991 to 1995, a horrifying series of murders haunted the New Orleans area, claiming the lives of twenty-eight individuals. Among the victims were twenty-three women, four transgender women, and one person whose gender remained unidentified. These tragic deaths were marked by a pattern of strangulation or suffocation, and a significant portion of those affected by this violence were known to be sex workers and/or struggling with drug addiction, adding a disturbing dimension to this grim chapter in the city's history.
