What do you do when God has brought you to the edge of the sea—and there seems to be no way forward?Last week, we saw Israel trapped between Pharaoh’s army and the Red Sea. God’s path had led them to a place where escape seemed impossible. But the story wasn’t over.In Part 2 of “When God Leads Us Through the Sea,” we continue through Exodus 14 and watch God do what Israel could never do for themselves. He calls them to trust Him, take the next step, and walk through the way He provides.The God who led them to the sea was also the God who would lead them through it. And sometimes, when we cannot see a way forward, God is asking us to trust Him enough to take the next step.

What happens when God leads you to a place where only He can make a way?

Sometimes following God doesn’t lead us down the easiest road—it leads us straight into situations where there seems to be no way forward. As Israel leaves Egypt, God deliberately chooses their path, leading them toward the sea while Pharaoh and his army close in behind them.

In Part 1 of When God Leads Us Through the Sea, we see that God’s way is not always the shortest way, and that God sometimes leads us into places we would never choose for ourselves. But a difficult road doesn’t mean we took a wrong turn. Sometimes the place that feels like a dead end is exactly where God intends to reveal who He is.

Israel has reached the sea. Pharaoh is coming. There appears to be nowhere to go.

How quickly do we forget what God has done when we’re already looking ahead to what comes next?

After generations in Egypt, Israel was finally free. God had broken Pharaoh’s power, brought His people out of slavery, and kept every promise He had made. But as they stepped into freedom, God gave them an important command: Remember.

In Exodus 12:31–42 and 13:1–16, we’ll see why remembering God’s deliverance matters. God calls His people to never forget what He rescued them from, to let His deliverance shape the way they live, and to tell the next generation what He has done.

The same is true for us. We were never meant to simply receive God’s grace and move on. Remember your deliverance. Live like you’ve been set free. Tell the story.

What does it really take to be saved?In Exodus 11–12, judgment is coming to Egypt—but God provides a way of rescue. The difference between judgment and deliverance is the blood of a spotless lamb.The Passover points us forward to an even greater deliverance. Jesus, the Lamb of God, shed His blood so that we could be rescued from sin and death. In “The Blood That Saves,” we’ll discover how the first Passover points directly to the cross and why the blood of Jesus remains our only hope for salvation.

When darkness surrounds you, where are you looking for light—and are you willing to follow Jesus without compromise?As the plagues continue, Egypt is devastated by locusts and then covered in a darkness so deep that no one can see or move. Yet in the middle of that darkness, Scripture tells us something remarkable: “all the Israelites had light in the places where they lived” (Exodus 10:23).Exodus 10 reminds us that sin always takes more than it gives, darkness is real, and compromise with Pharaoh is never freedom. But it also points us toward a greater hope: God provides light in the darkness, and ultimately that Light is found in Jesus.

Are you responding to God’s warnings—or simply getting better at living with them?In Exodus 9, Pharaoh receives warning after warning, yet his heart continues to harden. Each plague reveals God’s power, His patience, and the seriousness of resisting His word. This week, we’ll see that God’s warnings are not meant to be ignored—they are invitations to listen, repent, and worship Him before a hardened heart makes obedience even harder.
