Have you guys seen high fidelity? Maybe the Zoe Kravitz remake has graced your screen in the past few years. I loved the 2000 rom com it’s based on which is about an angsty man with a “poor understanding of women” who recounts his most painful breakups seeking to find a reason for his failed romances.

Guys…shit has just not been working out for me romantically, I have been doing my fair share of exing and being exed…so…it’s time to do a little user research. I interviewed by first boyfriend desperately seeking a little wisdom around what’s working and not working and if all the people ive dated in my life should maybe start a support group.

We’re friends right? So…would you mind if I asked you something slightly personal? Have you ever felt like the world is leaving you behind?

That’s one of the questions being asked by BROKENWORZ: an experimental sound / audio installation by Taisuke Yamada. For this episode, I had a chat with the artist alongside the show’s curator, Jun Mabuchi, to muse on the way modern life bends toward connection & disconnection.

Brokenworz is currently up at mhPROJECT space, and you can see it until September 30th, when it will culminate in a final performance with Nava Dunkelman, percussionist.

This episode features one of my favorite Leos of all time, Taylor Burgess! Happy belated TB.  Taylor is a classical jazz, opera, and contemporary singer. We grew up together so ofc, I needed her to come bless me on the show. It gets a lil meta this episode, as we take a trip down memory lane (2017) to listen to a voice memo we recorded during our first international trip together, fast forward 5 years later, Taylor is living on a completely different continent!!  Taylor, this one goes out to you, shining bright in so many peoples lives, to many more! Today we’re pulling an episode from the archives—one I recorded over a year ago now with my BFF and roommate Katja Vujic!

Katja is a social editor at the cut, freelance writer, and BREAD enthusiast (according to her Twitter bio). I am blessed to know and love her. It’s funny that we made an episode about what it feels like to leave home because Katja is someone with whom I have built a home with over the past year.
