How do we remain steadfast in the mission of God without becoming distracted, disoriented, or disqualified?

You have a great purpose. God is forming you into the likeness of Jesus to send you out to accomplish His good purposes.

Sunday we started a series in the book of Philippians looking at how we as the church are “the gospel made visible," or as Calvin said, “the theatre of God’s glory.” In particular, this week we looked at the first 11 verses of chapter 1, considering how we as the church abound in love more and more.

This week we talked about our devotion to fellowship, koinonia in the Greek, which is a sharing of resources (time, talent, and treasure), as well as a sharing in participation of life. We are devoted to fellowship in 1) making every effort to maintain unity through recognizing our need for each other, honoring each other, and suffering with others, 2) being radically generous, and 3) operating as family. That love for one another compels people toward Christ. 

The early church in Acts was devoted to prayer, praying earnestly to God. May we do the same for our friends, our neighbors, our city, and our world.
