The Orleans Parish School Board declined to settle a lawsuit against the City of New Orleans as board members wait to see whether an appeals court will approve more favorable settlement terms , including the end of a city fee that has cost the school system tens of millions of dollars over the years. The tentative deal the board considered came after Mayor LaToya Cantrell pulled out of a similar agreement earlier this year, saying the city could not afford the $90 million settlement.
