A former charter school math teacher on the Treasure Coast is under arrest for alleged inappropriate behavior with one of his students.
This particular arrest is said to be the first of its kind in Martin County.
Sheriff's detectives say the teacher they've arrested did not have any sexual contact with a student.
But they say he went too far, by asking her for dates to go to the beach with him, buying her gifts, giving her cash, and sending her inappropriate text messages.
"To my knowledge, this is the first time this particular portion of this statute has been implemented here in Martin County," said Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek.
