We receive Christ by faith...period. End of story. That's the only way to come alive spiritually. 

"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him." - Colossians 2:6

We have zero control over most things in life...

and the few things we can control, we need His help on.

Romans 12:1-2 is crucial because it is located between what God has done for us and how we should respond. We honestly must let God's truth reshape our thinking. 

"I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer you bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God -- This is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is -- His good, pleasing and perfect will." - Romans 12:1-2

"'The time has come,' He said. 'The Kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!'" - Mark 1:15

Jesus first words of the Book of Mark are instructions to repent and turn things around. He literally tells us to repent, confess our sins, and to change our minds! We must put our trust in Him.

What happens when we start looking at things through the eyes of God? What can we see from the prison story of Joseph and those who used to be closest to the king? The harsh reality of those who are of the world, about themselves, and those who are following God and trusting Him no matter what His plan.

Paul told Timothy to "Train yourself to be godly." The word in Greek translated as "train yourself" is the root of the English word Gymnasium. Meaning we must work out in spiritual training as we navigate this difficult world. 

"Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly." - 1 Timothy 4:7

GO DEEPER: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

"Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed -- not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence -- continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and act in order to fulfill His good purpose." - Philippians 2:12-13

Sometimes we are passive spiritually...sometimes, we feel we have to work and it is up to us to earn our salvation. Neither perspective is correct, and that's a difficult place to find ourselves.  Today, rely on God's salvation as you work according to His guidance and leadership in your life.

It is disheartening when we are going through a trial and it seems that God is nowhere to be found...but we must not lose sight of the unseen. We must remember that in our past we have times we felt the same way, but looking back we can see that God was working at all times on a solution to our troubles. The same can be seen in Exodus when thinking about the Israelites under Egyptian captivity. 

"The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law...and he...came to Horeb, the mountain of God."- Exodus 2:23; 3:1

GODISNOWHERE - how do you see it? God is nowhere? or, God is now here?

GO DEEPER: Genesis 22:1-19

"Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped." - Isaiah 35:5

Sometimes we resort to thinking we just aren't meant to understand, when God may be waiting on us to ask Him to help us understand. Sometimes, it might just be that the power to understand lies within our surrender to the Holy Spirit.

"Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." - Philippians 1:6

Thinking back over a day, lying in the dark, contemplating everything you said or did and realizing that you have struggles might make you wonder if you are making any progress in your faith. But do not worry, God is faithful.
