Sushma Swaraj and the External Affairs Ministry promised more transparency, but where is it? Take the case of missing Indians in areas controlled by the dreaded ISIS. There’s no telling exactly how many Indians have been lost.
Even for those that we know are missing, there isn’t much information. Take the case of 39 Indian workers from Punjab who have been missing for almost a year.
The Quint tracked down the family members of two of them - Charanjeet Singh and Kamaljeet Singh.
Charanjeet’s brother says they are completely isolated in their search. “Ministry doesn’t give a damn. I chase after them, they are not proactive. We are alone, nobody is helping anyone.”
And Kamaljeet’s mother is bewildered by the External Affairs Ministry’s advice NOT to worry.
“: The Ministry says - Koi gal nahi, fikarna karo thuvaade bachche theek thaak hai.”
