  • Quick Review: Super 30 Starring Hrithik Roshan and Pankaj Tripathi
A triumph of the human spirit, the vociferous fight of an underdog – these are the noble themes that Vikas Bahl’s Super 30 deals with.

Somehow, Hrithik seems alien in the very surroundings he should ideally look an indispensable part of.

Sadly, this proves to be the Super 30’s biggest weakness. His on-screen brother is the popular television actor Nimish Sandhu, who is fairly good even though he looks burdened with all that skin darkening make up. Still, Super 30 deserves to be seen for everything that it gets right.

  • Super Century: Why Any Friction Between India & US is Temporary
Perhaps for the first time since the 2008 nuclear deal, India seems a bit insecure about where it stands with its long-time friend and strategic partner, the United States of America. The reason: The rather mercurial President Trump and his belligerent trade wars.

But I argue that we should treat any friction in the India-US relationship as temporary and stay focused on the long-term prize: An unequivocal alliance.

It’s all here in my latest book, Super Century: What India Must Do To Rise By 2050.

You can order your copy on Amazon and Flipkart.

  • A 36-Hour Day in the Life of an Overworked Doctor
The standing Central government directive to hospitals states that “continuous active duty for resident doctors will not normally exceed 12 hours per day." But one shift regularly goes on for up to three times the prescribed limit of 12 hours, which is 36 hours.

  • Horror Stories of Overworked Doctors: Harming Themselves and Patients
India’s junior doctors are inhumanly overworked. It’s severely harming their own health, and the quality of healthcare provided to their patients. Despite being in a profession where their mistakes can cost lives, there is hardly any attention being paid to this deadly medical crisis.

In a special podcast on The Quint, overworked and sleep-deprived junior doctors speak up on condition of anonymity, against the exploitative conditions in which they work, and how dangerous it is for the patients under their care.

  • Horror Stories of Overworked Doctors: Harming Themselves and Patients
A 27-year-old doctor who recently completed his post-graduate Master of Surgery (MS) course, reveals the toll it takes on the doctors, “There’s an inhuman workload on junior doctors. They are doing continuous shifts of up to 36 hours and 48 hours at one stretch. And this is happening routinely. They are made to do 24 hours of on-call duty, ward work and emergency duty and then right after that (24 hours into their shift), they are made to work in the Operation Theatre. So, they are operating in the Emergency Room and the OT under stress and in a completely sleep-deprived condition. It’s immense pressure. Many friends of mine could not cope up with this and a few of them even tried to commit suicide.”
