Mayor Soglin returned from the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Washington D.C. where he met with other mayors from across the country. He was available to meet with the media to discuss what actions he expects to see from the new Trump administration.

Mayor Soglin, Madison Traffic Engineer David Dryer, Lieutenant Trevor Knight, and Officer Deanna Reilly from the Madison Police Department Traffic Section will meet with the media to discuss a recently released report from Smart Growth America outlining the Pedestrian Safety Index (PDI) of the largest 104 cities in the United States. They will additionally discuss options the City can consider to improve Madison’s ranking.

Mayor Soglin will meet with the media to discuss the

economic chaos in Wisconsin and why Madison is an exception.

Mayor Soglin discusses the City’s efforts to maintain the safety of persons in traffic medians, and also current State funding of transportation and education.

Last week’s elections have given rise to shared fears and apprehensions by many in our community. Communities of color, immigrants, women, members of the LGBTQ community, Muslims have been targeted in fear-mongering speech leading up to the election. Mayor Soglin, Police Chief Mike Koval, and City Attorney Mike May will address this current climate and our need to stand united in opposition to hate and violence.

Mayor Soglin will be available to meet with the media to discuss logistics

and results of this week’s election in the City of Madison.

Mayor Soglin and City Clerk Witzel-Behl detail record setting absentee ballot and early voting numbers and outline steps being taken to assure all ballots are counted.

Organizers of Freakfest, including Madison Police, City Traffic Engineering, and Frank Productions staff, will be on hand to discuss logistics of traffic, behavioral enforcement and the entertainment lineup for Freakfest 2016, which is Saturday, October 29. Special precautions are being taken because of the evening UW Football game vs. Nebraska.

Mayor Soglin announces that Madison has been selected to participate in the What Works Cities Initiative, through Bloomberg Philanthropies. This collaboration will partner Madison with 54 other cities to assist in the use of data to improve the lives of residents. The program will provide technical assistance over a four-month period.
