In this conversation, Ramsey let those present know that we were going to be celebrating Jeff’s book, The Secular Path to Well-being: Practical Dharma for Today.

As someone who meditates and who writes, Jeff was asked what his daily routine looks like, and how these practices relate to his life as a whole.

He sends out the Practical Dharma newsletter once a week, and teaches Serenity Sangha online twice a week. He spoke on how this relates to his writing.

He also mentioned the effect that reading Stephen Batchelor’s Buddhism Without Beliefs had on him when he read it in the late 90s.

A novel that tells the story of the last ten years in the life of Reg Mitchell, the man who designed the well-known Spitfire fighter plane, and who finds out he’s terminally ill just when his country, his family, and everything he holds dear face the prospect of invasion by Nazi Germany.

Three years after Mitchell’s death, when Spitfires battled the Luftwaffe, they carried a very personal message from Mitchell for the Nazi chieftains: a message about decency, according to Winton, and one that’s worth recalling now.

This novel is published by Brandl & Schlesinger on 1 June 2020, and will be available as a paperback and in digital formats.
